Kumho Tyre (CEO Chang-Gyu Kim) announced on the 7th that the Company's products had been named product design division winners in Germany's Red Dot Design Awards 2014. With this year's awards, Kumho Tyre has made the achievement of winning the Red Dot Design Award for three consecutive years, a first for the Korean Tyre industry.
The Red Dot Design Award is one of the world's three major international design competitions, together with the iF Design Award and the IDEA Design Competition.

A total of three products honored as winners this year: the “ECSTA PS91 (S-UHP Tyre),” “WATTRUN VA31 (Electric vehicle Tyre),” and “WinterCRAFT Wi61 (Winter Tyre).”
The S-UHP (Super-Ultra High Performance) ECSTA PS91 Tyre optimized for high-performance super cars boasts a dynamic design with a racing flag logo marked on the Tyre tread and side wall. The product, a recipient of the 2014 iF Design Award, was honored with two consecutive wins.
The WATTRUN VA31 is the country's first electric vehicle Tyre which is being supplied exclusively to Renault Samsung's SM3 Z.E. The WATTRUN is made with low-noise and comfort technology appropriate for electric vehicles. It is also characterized by a futuristic embossed pattern on the side wall. The WinterCRAFT Wi61 is a winter Tyre with a glacier and snowflake design motif on the side wall. The use of shadow knurling, a special shadowing effect, gives the product a luxurious feel.
Research Division Director Bong-Yeong Sohn of Kumho Tyre (Managing Director) commented that "It is a great honor to have won two design awards in the first half of this year alone, following the German iF Design Award in January." He also added, "We will continue to further develop our design capabilities based on our cutting-edge technological prowess and outstanding quality, enhancing our global competitive power."
