Kumho has expanded its European Technical Centre (KETC) with the creation of an innovative new tyre testing facility at Papenburg in Lower Saxony, Germany.
The leading tyre company has further expanded its burgeoning resource to help meet the demands of an expanding portfolio of Original Equipment (OE) contracts with European vehicle manufacturers and numerous new products for the European aftermarket.
The added workload on the Kumho ETC has resulted in the facility now testing more than 3,000 tyres per year.

The test activities are supported by a novel high technology GPS-based measurement systems along with digital evaluation of the tyre footprints.
The new centre will manage all of Kumho ETC's outdoor test requirements, while any additional needs will be catered for using a mix of race circuit facilities at Idiada (Spain), Nardo (Italy), Nürburgring (Germany) and Ivalo (Finland).
Kumho ETC's Manager of Outside Testing, Sven Rath, said the creation of this self-contained test centre is another important milestone in Kumho's latest product strategy.

The reward for Kumho's continuing investment in R&D was made apparent with the company recently winning major OE supply contracts with Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz.
The facility at Papenburg is part of the Kumho global network of engineering and development facilities including its new 35,000 square metre R&D centre at Yongin City in Korea which serves as the hub of Kumho's global research and development network joining the facilities in America, Germany and China.
Yongin City is the automotive and technology core of South Korea with Hyundai, Kia Motors, Hyundai Mobis and Renault Samsung all located there.

The Kumho Yongin City R&D centre employs 600 staff and is the base for the latest super computers, testing machinery, chemical analysis and performance-based research processing much of the information gathered at the other facilities such as Papenburg in Germany.
Kumho R&D also involves a range of real world testing programs across the world, including here in Australia where Kumho has undertaken a number of significant development programs particularly for all terrain SUV/4WD tyres as well as some unique heavy truck and trailer rubber along with various car tyre programs.
According to Kumho Tyre Australia national marketing and training manager David Basha, the new European research and development facility will result in even higher quality tyres for Australia.
"Globally Kumho strives to innovate and develop more advanced, durable and efficient tyres," said David Basha.
"Expanding the research and development network is a clear demonstration of Kumho's drive and desire to continually improve the products it produces for it's diverse global market," he added.
