Kumho Tyres and Kerri-Anne Kennerley partner for Pink Fitters Day 2015

- Pink Fitters Day to raise awareness and money for McGrath Breast Care Nurses
- Win a trip to play golf with Kerri-Anne at this year’s Australian PGA Championship

KAK Tyre.jpg1 April 2015: Kumho Tyres Australia today announced that beloved television personality Kerri-Anne Kennerley will reprise her official role as Pink Fitters Day Ambassador in 2015.

A major community initiative, Pink Fitters Day is Kumho Tyres’ annual charity event that sees tyre dealerships nation-wide turn pink to raise crucial funds for the McGrath Foundation.

Returning for the fifth year in a row, Pink Fitters Day will be held at participating Kumho Tyres retail partners on Friday the 1st of May 2015.

To help consumers get involved and support the cause, Kumho Tyres will also be giving one lucky Australian the trip of a lifetime to play a round of golf with Kerri-Anne at the 2015 Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast.

A breast cancer survivor herself, this is the second time that Kerri-Anne has been the Pink Fitters Day ambassador. She says she is honoured to work with the cause  again as its focus and mission are close to her heart.

“Pink Fitters Day is a fantastic initiative that encourages Australians from all walks of  life to talk about the seriousness of breast cancer. The event breaks down walls  across regional Australia by putting breast cancer support on the agenda of local  communities.

“It’s not often that some of the nation’s most burly men wear pink! By donning their  pink shirts on May 1st, participating retailers are helping to raise the profile of the  McGrath Foundation and the fantastic work they do, while also supporting their loved  ones who have experienced the disease,” Kennerley said.

In addition to hosting Pink Fitters Day, Kumho Tyres will also donate $100,000 to the  McGrath Foundation to help place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities  across Australia.

“The tyre industry is typically considered to be very male dominant, but this event  puts breast cancer firmly on everyone’s agenda as it encourages clients, staff and  the community to get informed and take action.

“The team at Kumho Tyres clearly recognises that breast cancer affects whole  families, not just the person with the disease. I think the friendship between Kumho  Tyres and the McGrath Foundation is a brilliant way to show all Australians how  breast cancer can impact every single one of us,” says Kennerley.

Kennerley was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2012 and has since recovered.

“In Australia, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before the  age of 85. I never imagined that these statistics would include me!

“Cancer is emotionally and physically draining. It’s an overwhelming and devastating  experience not just for the patient, but for family and friends as well. My breast care  nurse provided me with all the information I needed to feel knowledgeable and supported,” says Kennerley.

“Having someone by your side who knows what they’re doing and can provide you  with reassurance and comfort is essential to maintaining a strong sense of good  health and wellbeing.

“I am urging all Australians to join me in supporting this year’s Pink Fitters Day and  the McGrath Foundation. This year is set to be bigger than ever. Our goal is to see  even more families benefit from the funding of McGrath Breast Care Nurses,” she  added.

To go in the draw to win the golf trip, customers must purchase McGrath Foundation  merchandise from a participating dealer on May 1st 2015. All proceeds from themed  merchandise will be donated to the McGrath Foundation.

Participating dealerships will start fundraising from late April. Customers are able to  purchase pink valve caps in the lead up to and on Pink Fitters Day 2015.
