. After agreement in June, money collected and proceeds from selling pink ribbon tyre valve caps are donated fully
Kumho Tyres is participating in ‘Pink Ribbon Love Marathon’ as a passionate supporter of ongoing breast cancer awareness campaigns.
Earlier in June, Kumho Tyres held a new product launch presentation held at an airplane shed at Incheon International Airport, where it also signed an agreement with Korea Breast Cancer Foundation to support Pink Ribbon Campaign designed to promote the importance of breast health, a regular breast self-exam and early detection. The campaign has been run by Korea Breast Cancer Foundation, established in 2000 as Korea’s first non-profit foundation dedicated to breast health.
This year, Kumho Tyres is actively engaged with the campaign, conducting CSR activities including donations. The company launched a variety of events to attract more employees and consumers join the initiative.
From July 25 to 28, Pink Ribbon Campaign was conducted at Kumho Asiana Group headquarters building in Seoul and at Giheung Service Station. On July 25, a promotional booth was set up on the first floor of the headquarters building to attract group employees to join the campaign. Participants were given pink-color tyre valve caps, notepads and opportunities to enjoy a roulette game or have a photo session with the company’s mascot Ttoro, while money was raised through a collection box at the event site.
On July 26-27, free tyre check-up and safety consultation services were provided to drivers at Giheung Service Station on Gyungbu Highway. The services consisting of tyre air pressure check and fill, tyre repositioning and balance check, were given especially to cars with travelers for a long summer vacation trip.
The company drew attention for its participation in ‘2012 Pink Ribbon Love Marathon’ held at Yeouido Park in Seoul on October 7. The event hosted by Korea Breast Cancer Foundation for 12 years and organized by Amore Pacific was attended by 130 Kumho Tyres employees who ran in a pink shirt.
Kumho Tyres ran a booth to sell specially designed pink-color tyre valve caps to participants and donated the proceeds to the foundation. To encourage voluntary participation of donators, there was no price set for the products. The contribution was handed over by Park Sechang, Head of Kumho Tyres’ Sales Division, and who has particular interest in breast health, directly to the foundation.
In addition to this, various side events, including free face painting, distribution of instant tattoo stickers, Kumho Tyres’ mascots ‘Ttoro’ and ‘Loro,’ and photo sessions with the characters, were provided for family participants. Resting places to avoid heat and enjoy cold drinks were widely accepted.
Kumho Tyres also provided all customers with pink-color tyre valve caps when they bought premium UHP Tyres and eco-friendly Tyres at 420 Tyre Pro shops, Kumho Tyres’ nationwide retail chain, until October 13. Part of tyre sales and money raised through collection boxes were also donated to Korea Breast Cancer Foundation.
Kumho Tyres’ commitment to breast health initiatives began from Australia. Kumho Tyres which ranks third in the country has joined in celebrating Pink Fitters Day, Australia’s major breast health campaign, since 2010. The campaign is run by Kumho is aid of the McGrath Foundation which was established by Australian cricket sports star Glenn McGrath and his wife Jane who tragically passed away from breast cancer. The Foundation is focused on providing breast care nurses to patients throughout the country and to increase breast cancer awareness among young Australian women.
In March, in celebration of the third anniversary of Pink Fitters Day, employees of Kumho Tyres’s major customers such as Tyrepower, Kumho Master Dealers & Bob Jane. Over 280 dealers purchased special pink shirts for Pink Fitters Day and donated their entyre proceeds worth over $20,000 to the McGrath Foundation.
“We are very pleased that we are able to join Pink Ribbon Love Marathon, the extension of Korea’s major breast cancer awareness campaign. Kumho Tyres will remain committed to its social responsibility as a respected tyre company with the best quality and the latest technology,” said Sang-gyu Lee, HR executive director.
