Kumho Tyre, wins the iF Product Design Award

Kumho Tyre (President & CEO Kim Chang-Kyu) announced on January 23 that they received accolades at the iF Design Awards 2014 held in Germany for their S-UHP Tyres ECSTA PS91 and ECSTA HS51.

 

The internationally renowned iF Design Awards with a 60-year history is considered as one of the top three design award ceremonies in the world together with the Red Dot Design Awards and the IDEA Design Award. The submitted designs were assessed comprehensively based on not only the design itself but also numerous other factors such as the material, theme, innovativeness, eco-friendliness, functionality, convenience and safety.

This year, the iF design awards recognized excellence in product design, package design and communication design, and Kumho Tyre’s ECSTA PS91 and ECSTA HS51 were honored with the transportation design awards in the product design category.

 

ECSTA PS91 is described as a super-ultra, high-performance (S-UHP) Tyre optimized for high-performance super cars as it is an upgraded version of the conventional UHP Tyres in every aspect. It was praised by design experts for its sporty and dynamic design with the image of a racing flag, a symbol of the racing circuit, engraved on the tread and the sidewall. On the other hand, the design of ECSTA HS51, inspired by the bright city lights, has a premium look with the shadow knurling and its patterns emphasize superb driving performance and speed.

Kumho Tyre has garnered accolades for its excellent designs in the recent years and dedicated to enhancing its design competitiveness. It has won product design awards at the iF Design Award in 2010 and 2012, and won the Red Dot Award for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013.
