Leading tyre company Kumho has expanded its extensive research and development network with the opening of a state of the art Research and Development centre in South Korea.
The new 35,000 sq.m centre houses 600 staff and is the base for the latest super computers, testing machinery, chemical analysis and performance-based research.
The new R&D centre in Yongin City will serve as the hub of Kumho's global research and development network joining facilities in America, Germany and China.
Yongin City is also rapidly becoming the automotive and technology core of South Korea with Hyundai Kia Motors, Hyundai Mobis and Renault Samsung all located there.
Kumho's other Korean development centre in Gwangju will become an evaluation and monitoring base as a result of the new facility opening.
According to Kumho Tyre Australia national marketing and training manager David Basha, the new research and development facility will result in even higher quality tyres for Australia.
"Globally Kumho strives to innovate and develop more advanced, durable and efficient tyres," said David Basha.
"Kumho has developed new compounds and construction methods and Australia has directly benefitted this with new tyres such as the Ecsta 4X KU22, Cru-Gen KL33, Portan KC53 and most recently the Ecsta PS91.
"Expanding the research and development network is a clear demonstration of Kumho's drive and desire to continually improve the products it produces for it's diverse global market," he added.
